Puppy school Canberra has an outdoor training area with ample parking.

It allows us to give you the very best environment that is structured, safe and secure to maximise learning for you and your dog.

Puppy school and obedience classes are run on Saturday mornings.

In only a short amount of time, we are able to teach you how to ‘master the art’ of training your dog and how to fix or manage any behavioural problems you may be having with your dog.

PUPPY SCHOOL

8:30AM SATURDAY MORNINGS – JOIN AT ANY TIME

  • From 8 weeks to 16 weeks of age
  • 40 mins in duration
  • Introduction to loose lead walking
  • How to stop biting and jumping
  • Introduction to recall
  • How to teach correct social behaviour
  • Behaviour problem solving
  • Socialisation to different dogs, animals, surfaces and noises
  • Sit on command
  • Walking on a leash

Puppies must have first vaccination. Evidence will need to be provided at check in of first class.

BEGINNERS CLASS

9:30AM SATURDAY MORNINGS

  • From 4 months of age
  • 40 minutes in duration
  • How to stop jumping on people and biting
  • Introduction to loose lead walking
  • Introduction to informal recall
  • Correct leash handling
  • Introduction to the drop
  • Sit on command
  • Introduction to recall
  • Behaviour problem solving
  • Socialisation to different dogs, animals, surfaces and noises
  • Trick – wave

Dogs must have current vaccinations. Evidence will need to be provided at check in of first class.

INTERMEDIATE CLASS

  • Medium Level Distraction
  • Intro to heeling
  • The Bridge
  • Intro to the stand
  • Formal recall on a long line
  • Intro to focus
  • Stand on command

  • Tricks – Bow, Spin and Roll over

SCENT DETECTION CLASS

11:30AM SATURDAY MORNINGS

Have you ever wanted to learn Scent detection? Sidney is now offering a formal class in teaching you how to teach your dog how to find target odour.
The class is 40 mins in duration and held every Saturday morning at 11:30.

What will you need?

  • All dogs must have successfully passed SAPDT beginners before joining the detection class.
  • A dog with good food or ball/tug drive.
  • Lots of food and or toys.

The scent detection training box that includes training odour and scent tubes can be purchased from Sidney for $99.
