Personal Protection Training

I offer personal protection training for suitable dogs — including dogs I have bred and trained, and your own dog if it passes assessment. This is not a bite-work class. Protection work is only built on a solid foundation of obedience, control and sociability. The dog and the handler are trained together.

Protection under control

Dogs in this program will have guarding and protection behaviours — but always under control. We do not train dogs to be dangerous. We train dogs to protect and to be valuable family members: calm in the home, reliable with their people, and able to switch on only when it is genuinely needed.

ASSESSMENT IS MANDATORY

Every dog and handler must be assessed before being accepted. We will not start protection training on a dog that is not ready.

If the dog or handler does not meet that standard, we do not proceed. We can talk about an obedience and control plan first if that is what is needed.

Handling a protection dog is not beginner work

Training and handling a personal protection dog can be very difficult, particularly for an amateur or beginner. That is why we provide ongoing training and professionally trained staff to take you through, step by step, how to handle your dog — especially in a real-life situation. You will need these skills if things are going to go well for you and anyone around you.
